Generally
Store plums on the counter at room temperature to allow them to ripen fully. Keep them out of direct sunlight and check daily for softness and a sweet aroma—both signs they're ready to eat. Once ripe, transfer plums to the refrigerator to extend their shelf life. You can store them loose in the crisper drawer or in a paper bag to maintain airflow while keeping them cool. Refrigeration slows further ripening and helps preserve their flavor and texture for a few extra days.
